Vocal Range: G#2 – D5 – A5 (3 octaves)[1]https://therangeplanet.proboards.com/thread/729/dua-lipa
Vocal Fach: Lyric Mezzo-Soprano*
Vocal Rating: Singer
Vocal Positives: A dark, raspy, and distinctive voice.
Her lower register is the highlight and trademark of her vocal, being nicely colored albeit achieved by lowering the larynx too far. Lipa seems comfortable both accessing and staying in this area of her voice, though the sound begins to air out as she reaches the floor of her range (“IDGAF”).
As she ascends, her rasp quickly picks up prominence. This seems intentional, as she leans into not only her rasp but also vocal breaks for dramatic effect (“Physical” and “Scared to be Lonely”). That being said, it’s unclear if she could produce a bright, clean sound on the same notes.
She’s demonstrated on many occasions the ability to growl or distort her sound for stylistic flare, and also uses the technique sparingly rather than too often to cover flaws in her voice. This, along with the texture of her rasp, helps to make her voice distinguishable from the more typical bright and clear sounds that most pop vocalists pursue. As she often performs in a sensual and sultry manner, these qualities all aid her in that delivery.
Vocal Negatives: The coarseness in her voice when she sings above C5 suggests some degree of vocal damage, whether from growling or pushing her voice in other ways. Lipa also doesn’t seem to use diphthongs or vowel shaping to make vocal lines easier, so she overworks using her throat to compensate. The lack of vibrato in all areas of her voice suggests some tension as well. Finally, her head voice is underdeveloped and underutilized.
Overall, she’s a vocalist with potential that doesn’t seem to be used to the fullest yet.

*While Lipa would likely sing alto parts in a choral setting, she herself would be classified as a Mezzo-Soprano as her voice lacks a truly androgynous quality to it, but also the vocal weight.
Dua Lipa’s vocal range is G#2 – D5 – A5, approximately 3 octaves.
Dua Lipa is not a contralto, she is a mezzo-soprano. However, if she were in a choir, she would likely sing an alto part.
